Common use

Contraindications

Eliquis tablet interacts with the following diseases:
Renal Impairment: People with severe kidney disease may need a lower dose due to impaired drug excretion.
Hepatic Impairment: People with liver disease should be cautious as their condition could affect how well Eliquis works.
Active Pathological Bleeding: Eliquis increases the risk of bleeding, so is not recommended for people who are already experiencing abnormal bleeding.

Drug interaction

Eliquis interacts with the following medicines:
Strong dual inhibitors of CYP3A4 and P-gp: Medications like ketoconazole, itraconazole, and ritonavir can increase blood levels of apixaban in Eliquis tablet, potentially increasing your risk of bleeding.
Strong dual inducers of CYP3A4 and P-gp: Medications such as rifampin, carbamazepine, and phenytoin can decrease the effectiveness of Eliquis by reducing apixaban exposure.
Other anticoagulants: Medicines that impair hemostasis like aspirin, NSAIDs, heparin, thrombolytic agents and SSRIs/SNRIs can enhance the anticoagulant effect of Eliquis tablet, possibly increasing your risk of bleeding.

Missed dose

In case you forget to take Eliquis at the scheduled time, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it’s close to the time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not increase your dosage without consulting your doctor.

Overdose

Overdosing on Eliquis may lead to more intense side effects such as unusual bleeding or bruising. If you suspect an overdose, do not panic but ensure you inform your doctor about it.

Storage

Store Eliquis in a dry place below 30°C. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and excessive heat. Keep it sealed in its original packaging to protect it from moisture. Always keep this medicine out of reach of children. Remember to use it before the expiry date printed on the packaging.
